May 11th Luncheon

Dawn Hafner

"The Mapmaker"

Join us as Dawn shares why she refers to God as The Mapmaker and, through life experiences, has discovered it is our job to look for the daily lessons happening all around us everyday as He is trying to speak to us.

Dawn will read two stories from her book - The Mapmaker.  Each reading will be followed by a few minutes of quiet journaling time. Dawn will have some small map journals to hand out to each person attending to use for this activity. The first story she will share is "God is Like a Pipebomb".  It is a story how childhood cancer touched her life and the affect it has had on her faith.  The second story she will share is "Judgement Kills Compassion". A story about a tragedy in her neighborhood and how judgement clouded her expression of compassion.

God is the Mapmaker. He has a plan for our lives. We have a purpose to fulfill here as long as we have breath in our lungs.

Come join us for a message that is sure to encourage your heart.

Based on the foundational truths found in Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths." And, Isaiah 58:8-9: "Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and He will say: Here am I." And, Romans 2:1-3: "You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Now we know that Godís judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape Godís judgment?"

About the Speaker
Dawn has worked over the past twenty years in the financial industry, leading teams, coaching employees, and providing client service. In addition to her writing and speaking, she is COO and shareholder at Kidder Benefits Consultants, Inc. She recently released her first book , The Mapmaker Your 33 Day Journey Towards Daily Presence, in April of this year.

She writes her own blog posts about topics that inspire her to be her best self and achieve presence. Over her career she has had one theme that has helped her find success and balance. "BE Where You Are".

Dawn latched onto this phrase to guide her choices when she became a mom and struggled to balance work, parenting and time for self. BE Where You Are means to truly embrace where you are in this current moment. We can only focus on what we are doing in the moment. Once we learn how to fully submit to the present, we can evaluate, and guide our compass towards where we want to arrive in the future.

We all came here for a reason. Our main purpose is to find that reason and share it with the world. The truth that is already deep within us, and has been since before the day we were born. The lessons for where to go next on our path surround us every single day.

A special note of interest: The Mapmaker is a 33 Day collection of short stories with life lessons, followed by journal prompt exercises. Dawn will have a few copies of her book available for you to thumb through and, if you're interested, they will be available to purchase.
