March 9th Luncheon
You're a mother, a wife, a grandmother, a daughter-in-law. At the moment, you‘re knee deep in a sticky life situation. You’re trying to figure out how God can come through and redeem it. Donna has been there – struggling with child rearing, marriage, betrayal by family and friends, conflicts in valued relationships. After years of surrendering to God to carry her through those stressful times, she felt His leading to write a book about her experiences. In her presentation, Donna shares her own Christian testimony, as well as some challenges to her audience to honestly Tune God In to learn what He has to say to YOU in times like these. Come join us for this heart warming message that is sure to encourage your heart!
Based on the foundational truths found in Samuel 3:10 (NIV): The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening."
About the Speaker
Her father was a Special Agent with the FBI when Donna was born in Washington, DC. While she was still a baby, the family moved to Wisconsin, where both of her parents’ families had roots. She enrolled in Milton College, where she met her future husband while both were students there in the 1960’s. They married and relocated to Rhode Island, Jerry’s home state, when he took a job with The Providence Journal. Later job and household moves took them back to her home state, and eventually Iowa. Donna’s professional career has spanned several administrative support positions with such diverse employers as Iowa Bar Association, Xerox, National Pork Council, and West Des Moines municipal government. She and her husband live in semi-retirement in West Des Moines, and are members of Lutheran Church of Hope. Donna is a mentor to younger women, and leads a women’s Bible study in her home. Her book Tune God In is available on Barnes and Nobles’ website, as well as Amazon.com. Copies will be available for purchase at the conclusion of her presentation.
Describing her observation skills, Donna says: “People wonder how, or whether, God speaks to them in this age. Without question, the Bible is God’s campaign speech to His followers. That’s my baseline. From there, when I see something – or something steps on my toes – I ask God, ‘Anything here You want me to learn? What are You saying to me today?’
